Nordic-inspired Bike Bags

The SEGEL bag, and its brand universe, originate from the desire to create a sustainable, simple, and long-lasting item that would become a part of everyday life. The bag reflects the creators' Nordic heritage by combining Faroese craftsmanship and Danish design. The bag is designed to aid the urban dweller in everyday life by being built to withstand adverse weather conditions.

Creators Community Award 2020

SEGEL refers to the Faroese word for sails — “segl”. The textiles find their origin in the maritime industry of the Faroe Islands. All materials are incredibly durable and water-resistant, making this product the perfect companion for the urban dweller. In 2020 SEGEL won Creators Community's "Design Award 3rd place" at Formland. The award was given for the innovative and functional design.

Challenge

It is a global trend that urban planners create car-free zones. Governments invest in cycling because of the many societal and sustainable benefits, with bicycle paths being constructed in cities worldwide. As a result, we see a growing need for transporting goods on bikes conveniently and reliably, catering to the needs of modern urbanites. Current bike bag solutions are unpractical and unaesthetic. Still, they also lack the flexibility needed to become part of everyday life and penetrate the market.

Solution

SEGEL is a bike bag that provides the needed flexibility and mobility for the urban dweller. The bag can replace your everyday backpack as it allows you to carry both laptops and other everyday items. Made of leftover materials from the production of sails and fishermen's clothes at the Faroe Islands, the bag is waterproof and well suited for outdoor use. SEGEL is securely fixed to the bike with two S-carabiners, and an integrated shopper allows you to carry more on the go. Ultimately, SEGEL covers the need for transporting goods on a bike in a convenient, aesthetic, and reliable way.

— This recommendation comes from my heart. I love this bag from SEGEL Cph. It’s waterproof, fits my computer, dog stuff and all the other stuff I carry around with me when I’m on the go. All in all a super practical bag, which is just for me!
